It is July. Everyone is officially done school which means summer fun is everywhere! Here in Edmonton, we are the city of festivals. There is something going on every weekend and during the week. So far there's been Bacon Fest (which I sadly missed due to work :(), Blu's on Whyte which is a huge jazz festival plus others. We have tons coming up too so it is literally impossible to be bored in this city. There's always amazing food, music and carnivals going on.
The other summer fun thing to do which I was introduced to last year is...drum roll please....camping! Up until last year, I had never been camping before. I also had no interest in it, the thought of it didn't excite me at all! My thoughts were, 'I don't want to pee in the woods', 'I don't want to get attacked by bears', 'I hate bugs', 'I don't want to sleep on the ground' and the thoughts went on and on. Our first camping trip last year was just an overnight. There were bathrooms and showers and no bears around. I made it home in one piece plus a fat lip due to drunkenly being kicked in the face, but other than that unharmed. It's also my favourite camping trip to date because on that trip, in the tent is where Dean first told me he loved me :)
We went camping for the first time this year on the weekend. We went to Freeman River which has bear and cougar warning (fantastic) but we made it home in one piece. Burgers, beer pong, s'mores, fishing, tanning and vodka. It was a great camping trip. I'm slowly being turned into a camping girl, but it's going to take awhile I think.
